Bitcoin Holds $77,000 Despite Binance Scare: ‘ A Sign Of Resilience’
Bitcoin fell 3% over the past 24 hours after reports of a major Binance security breach, even as the crypto king holds roughly 24% above where it started August. Why Analysts Call This a Sign of ResilienceWidely-followed trader Quinten Francois posted on X that Bitcoin has absorbed an unusual string of bad news this year. Here’s what’s piled up:Iran war escalationBlocked Clarity ActFirst Fed rate hike in three yearsStrategy selling 6,916 BitcoinExploits hitting Coldcard, Ledger and now Binance"I genuinely don’t think people realize how much bad news Bitcoin has absorbed," Francois wrote, calling the pattern a potential sign of seller exhaustion.Despite all that, Bitcoin climbed roughly 25% in August, rising from around $62,814 to $78,549, then gained another 6.4% in September to close the month near $83,554.At its October 30 price near $77,600, Bitcoin had given back September’s gains and slipped slightly below August’s close, but it still sits about 24% above where it started August, holding onto most of that month’s recovery despite the setbacks. What Happened at BinanceWidely-followed analyst Ali Martinez posted on X that Binance confirmed it was investigating a potential security issue, after billions in unusual transfers moved from Binance-labeled wallets.Tether and Circle have since frozen more than $2.3 billion in related stablecoins.Bitcoin failed to break above its 50-day moving average and fell toward $78,000 as the reports spread. Ali Charts identified the 200-day moving average near $73,000 as the next level to watch for a potential dip-buying opportunity. Moreover, Blockchain investigator TRM Labs traced in affected funds across 10 blockchains, calling it the largest cryptocurrency theft on record, with most transfers happening within about 20 minutes on October 29.TRM attributed the attack to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group with high confidence, though Binance says it’s still working with law enforcement to confirm who’s responsible.Binance has frozen roughly $3 billion on-chain so far and pledged to cover losses using its SAFU protection fund and company reserves, while temporarily suspending deposits and withdrawals. However, the company hasn’t confirmed the final loss total, and the frozen funds haven’t been returned to Binance yet.Preview Image: Shutterstock
