'Cash Is A Melting Ice Cube,' Says Industry Executive as Bitcoin Adoption Poised to Surge

Bitcoin could attract as Bitcoin for Corporations co-founder Alan Helm urges companies to diversify their cash reserves. Why Should Companies Allocate to Bitcoin? In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine on Wednesday, Helm said institutional conversations around Bitcoin have shifted from speculation toward portfolio allocation, digital credit and financial infrastructure. He noted that major financial institutions are increasingly exploring Bitcoin products for pension funds, endowments and other institutional investors.“We know cash is a melting ice cube at the end of the day,” Helm said, arguing that companies should consider allocating a small portion of excess reserves to Bitcoin.Rather than following Strategy with aggressive accumulation, Helm recommends that corporate executives initially allocate one to two percent of cash reserves and evaluate performance across a full market cycle. He also highlighted growing institutional demand through spot Bitcoin ETFs, suggesting that initial allocations could increase as investors become more comfortable with the asset.Could Treasury Companies Face Consolidation?Helm said roughly 173 publicly traded companies hold Bitcoin, but only a few, including Strategy, Strive and Metaplanet , have developed sophisticated digital credit businesses.Smaller firms face dilution risks as their valuations fall toward or below their Bitcoin holdings, making capital raises difficult. He expects mergers and acquisitions as weaker players struggle, with Bitcoin eventually becoming a standard corporate asset rather than a standalone treasury strategy.Helm argued that institutional inflows have largely replaced retail participation over the past two years. But expanding access to Bitcoin ETFs, tokenized assets and digital credit products could eventually attract retail investors back.He identified AI, 24/7 trading and greater integration of global capital markets as major catalysts for the next wave of institutional adoption.Helm expects companies to increasingly seek liquidity across the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East rather than relying on individual markets.Preview Image: Shutterstock
