Former FTX COO Constance Wang Says Netflix's 'The Altruists' Trailer Made Her Physically Sick
Former FTX Chief Operating Officer Constance Wang said on Friday that Netflix's full trailer for its upcoming FTX-themed series, The Altruists, made her feel physically sick after many people messaged her about it on X. According to ChainCatcher, Wang said the trailer bears little resemblance to her experience at FTX and criticized the portrayal of the company.Wang said she joined FTX as chief operating officer in early 2019 and later served as co-chief executive in the final months before the exchange collapsed in November 2022. She said she was among the last people to leave the Bahamas after Sam Bankman-Fried was extradited, lost everything in the fallout, and took a long time to recover. She also rejected the narrative that FTX failed because employees were partying in the Bahamas, saying her workplace was nothing like that. Netflix's eight-episode limited series is scheduled to premiere on November 19, and its roughly two-minute trailer has drawn criticism over the depictions of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison.
