MetaMask Staking is precautionarily exiting roughly 17,000 Ethereum validators, representing about $1.4 billion in staked ETH, from the Lido protocol after an infrastructure compromise. The final validators are scheduled to exit by the end of October 7, 2026, with ETH returning gradually over a period of up to about 45 days.The withdrawal represents a material outflow from Lido's staked base. For LDO holders, the associated security incident can prompt closer scrutiny of the protocol or repositioning away from it.
