Strive CEO Matt Cole Expects Bitcoin to Outperform Gold Over the Long Term
Strive CEO Matt Cole said he expects Bitcoin to outperform gold over the long term as the market matures, according to Odaily. Scarcity has consistently outperformed debasement over the past 55-plus years, he said on X: gold has compounded faster than M2 in every period shown — 9.0% versus 6.7% since 1970, 9.5% versus 6.3% since the global financial crisis, and 18.3% versus 6.5% since COVID. Bitcoin is digital gold, a superior store of value whose emergence remains in its early stages and should outperform gold as it matures, he said, adding that Strive's thesis depends on long-term monetary debasement continuing — a trend he believes is unbreakable: as the debt crisis worsens, the outperformance of scarce assets versus the dollar in CAGR terms will perpetually accelerate, not decelerate, relative to historicals. If that premise holds, the only challenge becomes building and sustaining a high Amplification Ratio without blowing up — sounds simple but is extraordinarily difficult, Cole said. Most investors, in his view, neither understand nor properly value the moat Strive has built around high Bitcoin amplification with high liquidity, and he doesn't expect most to recognize it until Bitcoin makes sustainable new all-time highs. "The consensus investor remains fixated on the cost of capital and fiat cash flows. That is understandable, but it means picking up pennies in front of the debasement steamroller," Cole wrote. "When you truly internalize the principles of a Bitcoin standard, the focus becomes crystal clear: be maximally and perpetually short dollars and long Bitcoin."
