Tokenized-Asset Settlement Platform MultiLiquid Raises $8 Million
MultiLiquid, a settlement platform that instantly swaps tokenized assets and stablecoins, has raised a total of $8 million in early-stage funding. The company aims to address a key problem in asset tokenization: even after assets move onto blockchain rails, converting them into cash can still take time.Uniform Labs, the developer of MultiLiquid, raised the funding across pre-seed and seed rounds, The Block reported on Oct. 15. The seed round was led by Polychain. Strobe Ventures, CMT Digital, Metalayer Ventures, Generative Ventures and Circle Ventures also participated.MultiLiquid allows institutional investors to convert tokenized assets into stablecoins, or buy tokenized assets with stablecoins, in a single transaction. The platform executes those conversions instantly based on the product's net asset value, or NAV. It currently operates on Ethereum and Solana.Founder and Chief Executive Officer Will Beeson said tokenizing assets alone does not automatically improve trading efficiency. “Tokenization brings real-world assets on-chain, but on-chain does not mean real-time or liquid,” he said. “The market challenge is that redemptions still take days and liquidity is fragmented across venues.” Without immediate capital flows, the process amounts to little more than replicating traditional finance, he added. The platform supports tokenized products from Wellington Management, VanEck, Janus Henderson and Parataxis, as well as stablecoins including USDC. It is currently processing pilot trades and plans to add more liquidity providers in the fourth quarter of this year.Uniform Labs said it will use the funding to expand its engineering team and broaden its network of liquidity and exchange partners. The company also plans to add more tokenized cash and Treasury products across Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks and Solana. Uniform Labs currently has five employees and plans to hire protocol engineers and institutional sales staff by early next year.
