Tron Adds Quantum-Resistant Cryptography to Testnet, Prepares for Mainnet Rollout

Tron has introduced new cryptographic technology on its testnet to counter hacking threats from quantum computers.Cointelegraph reported on October 11 that Tron founder Justin Sun wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, had been added to the Tron testnet. He added that the network is closely monitoring advances in quantum computing and artificial intelligence and is ready to apply the technology to the mainnet at any time.Post-quantum cryptography is designed to withstand hacking attacks using future high-performance quantum computers.Sun said Tron is committed to protecting user assets. He stressed that the network would become one of the few major blockchains able to respond to quantum-computer attacks before quantum computers capable of disabling existing cryptographic systems emerge.Tron is not the only blockchain preparing for the quantum-computing threat. Ethereum, Algorand and Near Protocol are also moving to adopt quantum-resistant technology.
