Trump-linked World Liberty Financial unveils $WLFI token buyback funded by stablecoin reserves

Trump-backed crypto venture World Liberty Financial unveiled a buyback programme for its WLFI governance token on Thursday, initially funded through an allocation that may include revenue from USD1 stablecoin reserves and other sources. World Liberty Financial announced plans for a buyback in a social media post and did not specify the amount of tokens it would buy back."The success of $USD1 and the growing WLFI ecosystem is helping us launch a new $WLFI token buyback program to strengthen the WLFI ecosystem and governance," the post said. The announcement comes after the WLFI token came under pressure after the Republican Party's weaker-than-expected performance in this week's US midterm elections.World Liberty was co-founded in 2024 by President Donald Trump, his three sons and several partners. The Trump family holds a 38% stake in the venture and generates revenue from the sale and use of its WLFI governance token and USD1 stablecoin.
